Members Concern for Local Community

"Concern for community" is one of the seven principles of a cooperative:
Cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities through policies approved by their members.

Each month the members of The Tilted Jack make voluntary donations to charitable, non-profit organizations or other philanthropic interests within our local community.

KJZZ/National Public Radio - May 2012 sponsorship: tbd

Phoenix Inner City Kids - April 2012 donation: $534.00

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix - March 2012 donation: $536.00

Phoenix First - February 2012 donation: $572.50

Phoenix Children's Hospital NICU - January 2012 donation: $450.00

Our philanthropic option is simple: An optional $5 initial addon for 500 bonus chips at the start of any tournament.

The co-operative does not benefit or participate in the Monthly Benefits Fund ("MBF"). 100% is given back to the community. All associated expenses, such as the cost of raffle tickets, receipts, gas, postage or other potential costs, are absorbed by the co-operative and its volunteers.

$2 of the Monthly Benefits Fund goes to a local community concern or charitable 501(c) organization. $1 to the Player of the Month (PotM) Drawing, $1 to the Tournament of Champions winner and $1 to the winner of the Quarterly Championship.

For approved charitable organizations, the co-operative provides each donation with a receipt that may be tax-deductible for $2. This also provides an auditable accounting system for all MBF collected each month.

Members with a philanthropic, charitable or community benefit suggestion for TTJ fundraising efforts have our usual methods of contact: let a staff member know, fill out a suggestion box slip, e-mail TheTiltedJack@yahoo.com, call 602-993-4727 (leave a message), or text 480-694-7292. We determine which charity to benefit at our monthly general meetings or as defined in the Cooperative Operating Agreement.

We may also do benefits for member concerns that aren't necessarily a non-profit tax-deductible organization. If a member has a medical or family emergency that puts them in need of immediate assistance where their friends can help, we will organize something for them, even if it's just as simple and quickly effective as passing around a hat before a few tournaments versus dedicating an entire month to collection.

NOTICE:

PENDING QUORUM APPROVAL AND PLAYER CONSENSUS FOR MAY:

PLAYER OF THE MONTH RAFFLE (NEW OR COMING SOON)

Each month we raffle off a minimum of three (3) $100 VISA CASH CARDS. Participants need not be present to win. As required by law, anyone can enter the PotM raffle for free. There is no requirement to participate in an event, meeting or to pay anything at all. We do ask for contact information and a valid form of ID, and we will fill out a membership form, even if the participate does not wish to become a member of the co-operative or participate in any future event. Must be 21+ to participate.

Members who participate in the Player of the Month race will earn one additional entry for every 50 points earned. For example: if you earn 475 points for the month, you will have 9 (475/50) additional entries (plus your initial free entry).

The PotM Drawing will be conducted at the monthly Tournament of Champions.
